ATWELL KINDY INFORMATION
Welcome to Atwell Primary School Kindergarten
Kindy commences at 8:40am and finishes at 3:00pm
Out of School Hours Care
Helping Hands offer a before and after school care service which is situated in the undercover area near the school canteen. Please contact them directly for more information.
Before and After School Play
Children and siblings are not permitted to play on the outside equipment or in the sandpit areas before and after school. Thank you.
Please remember to bring a piece of fruit or a vegetable to share each day (it should be placed in the fruit basket in the classroom). We prefer whole fruit, so please try to limit using containers (allergy considerations), when providing fruit.
It is common to have children with food allergies attending Kindy. To protect the health of these children, we ask all parents to make sure that foods containing nuts and nut products are not included in the children’s snacks and lunches. Products that may contain nuts include muesli bars, Nutella (hazelnut spreads), peanut butter, biscuits, cakes and other bar lines.
Drink Bottles (water)
Please provide your child with a named water bottle to use inside the classroom.
A suitably sized lunch may include:
- 1 sandwich
- 1 piece of fruit
- Yoghurt or muesli bar (no nuts please)
We love to celebrate the children’s birthdays at Kindy and invite you to bring in something that is easy to share e.g. individual patty cakes, mini doughnuts or biscuits. If your child has food allergies or special considerations, please supply alternative treats for your child to enjoy during the celebrations.
When children are required to bring money to school for any reason, please seal it in an envelope and place it in the drop box outside the school office (billabong side). Teachers will be unable to accept money in the classroom. Please make sure to write on the front of the envelope, your child’s name and surname, classroom, the amount enclosed and the purpose for the money, e.g. excursion, special event etc.
Children must each have a hat at Kindy every day (we would prefer the hats to remain at school if possible).
Change of Clothes
A change of clothes is essential for the occasional accident or mishap with water play. Please ensure that this clothing remains seasonally appropriate and please label all clothing clearly.
Children should be dropped off and collected from Kindy by an adult. If you need to make alternative arrangements, you must give written permission to your child’s class teacher e.g. bring a note or sign the collection book. If you are unavoidably late, please call the school so we can reassure your child that you will be there soon.
Absentee & Late Notes
When your child is absent from school, please supply a note detailing the date of the absence and the reason. Also, if you arrive at school after the siren (9.00am), you will be required to get a late note from the front office. If you decide to take a vacation during the school term, you must let the school office (and your child’s teacher) know if it is more than three school days.
Children should be able to come to Kindy ready to learn and able to participate. If they are not fit and well enough to do that, they are too sick to be at school and are putting their own health and the health of the other children in the classroom at risk. Please see the Kindergarten Information in the pack you received on enrolment at the school and visit HEALTH DIRECT to help determine if your child is well enough for school.
Morning Parent Helpers
We will be putting parent rosters out later in the term once the children are settled into Kindy routines. We usually ask parent helpers to stay between 8:45am and 12:00pm. We will also be looking for parent volunteers to help with looking after our raised garden beds at Kindy.
If you would like to discuss something in detail about your child, feel free to make an after school appointment with your child’s teacher so that discussions can take place in an uninterrupted setting.
Class laundry will be taken home by parent volunteers weekly. Please see the class noticeboards for the roster.
It is very important that you keep your contact details up to date in the office and in the classroom.
Atwell Primary School now has its own website (address below). The site contains comprehensive information about the school so we encourage you to access this regularly to keep updated on school notices and events.
The school newsletter is published fortnightly and uploaded to the website. There is an option on the Front Page of the school website to subscribe to the newsletter and have it emailed directly to you.
There is also an Atwell Primary School Parents Facebook page run by the P&C where you can communicate with other parents or ask questions regarding the school.
