Student Services at Atwell Primary School

At Atwell Primary School we believe it is essential to support the students across all areas of their schooling. A key component of this is fostering the development of the students’ health and wellbeing.

We have a Student Services Team that consists of:

  • Student Services Deputy: Claire Zappa
  • Student Services Coordinator: Christie Toms
  • School Psychologist

The School Psychologist at Atwell Primary School provides a specialist psychological assessment, intervention and consultation service for the members of the Atwell Primary School community.

The School Psychologist provides support in three main areas:

1. Behaviour

2. Learning

3. Mental Health and Wellbeing

  • School Chaplain: Shayne Weller

The Chaplain at Atwell Primary School provides a service that supports the care offered by school staff and other outside agencies.  The responsibility of the Chaplain is to support the social and emotional wellbeing of students and members of the school community.

  • EAL/D Coordinator: Virginie van der Merwe

The English as an Additional Language/Dialect Support Teacher (EAL/D) at Atwell Primary School supports students, staff, parents and the wider community.  The role of the EAL/D Support Teacher is to address the educational needs of students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds currently enrolled.  If you require an interpreter, this can be easily arranged through the front office.

  • School Nurse: Merilyn Dare

The School Nurse at Atwell Primary School works with students, parents and teachers to support the health needs of students.  The School Nurse can do vision and hearing checks and offers practical support with a variety of issues including bed wetting, sleeping issues, etc.

The Student Services team works collaboratively with students, staff, families, outside agencies and the wider community. They are available throughout the week.  Please contact the school office on 9414 5017 and they will happily arrange a suitable time for you to have a friendly chat or meet.  You can also speak to your child’s teacher to arrange a suitable time.
