Term Four in Year 1
This term in English students will be looking at a variety of persuasive texts. They will be learning about the conventions of persuasive texts and how to write their own. We will continue to read fiction and non-fiction books in both shared and guided reading and use a wide range of known strategies to read these books. In Speaking and Listening there will be a continued focus on active listening and exploring different ways to communicate with others – verbal and non verbal.
This term in Mathematics students will be looking at the days of the week and months of the year, and will be learning how to read a calendar. They will learn how to tell the time on digital and analogue clocks and will also explore object, shape and number patterns. Students will also review addition and subtraction problems with and without regrouping
This term in Health students will be learning about how to make positive choices, which will help them towards living a safe, healthy and active lifestyle.
This term in Science students will be exploring physical sciences. They will be investigating sound and light through responding to questions, making predictions and participating in investigations.
This term in HASS students will be developing their geographical knowledge and understanding through identifying where activities are located and the reason why they are located there. They will also be looking at sustainability and learning about how they can recycle, reduce and re-use.
This term in Design and Technologies students will be taking part in a range of plugged and unplugged activities. They will be learning to identify and debug their own programs. Students will also be looking at their digital footprint and identifying what makes a safe and unsafe website.
