On Saturday September 2nd, is year’s Atwell Area Band performed at the Australian Band Orchestra Directors’ Association (ABODA) adjudicated concert festival. This event is run in partnership with the Instrumental Music Schools Services, Department of Education W.A. The aims of the Concert Bands and Orchestra Festivals are:
- To give ensemble members a performance opportunity at an outstanding venue.
- To give ensemble members an opportunity to hear other ensembles perform.
- To provide each ensemble with constructive comments from a panel of informed adjudicators.
- To present to each ensemble a certificate which recognises its participation and standard of performance
The Atwell Area Band is lead and conducted by Ms. Betty Young. Her passion is to be commended as she did an outstanding job at this festival. The band consists of Year 6 Instrumental Music School Service students playing; woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. Atwell Primary School has a large presence within the band, the whole bass section is Atwell Primary School’s very own baritone and trombone players! Four of our guitar players also have taken on the challenge of playing percussion in the band. We look forward to their performance being held at Atwell Primary School in Term 4!
